A highly motivated individual is sought who is interested in the study of vascular development and function. Projects currently address the role of Notch signaling contribution to angiogenesis and vasoregulatory function in the mammalian vascular system. The qualified candidate will utilize mouse gene targeting in gain- and loss-of-function experiments and employ a wide array of cellular, molecular, vascular imaging and invasive hemodynamic monitoring techniques necessary for animal phenotyping. As a Postdoc/Research Associate, he/she will present data at departmental seminars and scientific meetings, prepare manuscripts, and contribute preliminary data for grant proposals. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to have interest in applying for external funding support.
- Expertise in gene expression analyses (both protein and RNA) and molecular cloning techniques.
- Expertise in mouse tissue procurement and histological analyses.
- Experience with in vivo and ex vivo angiogenesis assays preferred but not required.
- Experience in mouse surgery and hemodynamic analyses preferred but not required.
- Supervise laboratory technicians/assistants and student trainees in experimental design and data analysis of a variety of projects.
- Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in chemistry, biology, physiology, or equivalent.
- Prior post-doctoral research experience is not required, though experience in modern techniques of molecular biology and mouse handling/experimentation is essential.
- A background in angiogenesis and/or vascular physiology is highly preferred but not required.
- The successful candidate must have strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
- U.S. citizens and permanent residents will be considered for a training grant position.
