The Vascular Research Laboratory and the Ocean State Research Institute at the VA Medical Center and Alpert Medical School of Brown University is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated research technician to join our team. Research in the Morrison lab is focused on the intersect between immunology and vascular biology. We rely on several sophisticated, genetically modified mouse models to study macrophage signaling in vascular remodeling and arteriogenesis in order to identify potential therapeutic targets for treating disease in patients.
The Research Technician will collaborate closely with Dr. Morrison and postdoctoral fellows in the lab. Basic responsibilities will be managing the mouse colony and PCR genotyping, as well as ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring laboratory compliance. There will be ample opportunity to contribute to ongoing research, which may involve mouse surgery, histology, imaging and/or molecular and cellular assays. Extensive training will be provided.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in science is required, and some bench experience in molecular or cellular biology is preferred. Must have excellent organization and communication skills. The candidate should above all be highly motivated, excited about research and willing to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience with techniques mentioned above is preferred, but not a requirement.
In prior years, this has been an excellent and extremely successful gap position for postbacculaureate students who are looking to build research experience while applying to medical school.
To apply, candidates should email a curriculum vitae, together with contact information for at least two references to Dr. Alan R. Morrison (firstname.lastname@example.org)
